The short answer is that disinfectant spray isn’t a dependable way to deal with bed bugs.
Disinfectant might kill a bed bug on contact, but the problem is that bed bugs don’t live out in the open. They hide deep in mattress seams, furniture joints, baseboards, and wall cracks – places a spray won’t reach. And a disinfectant spray won’t kill bed bug eggs, which means the infestation keeps going even if one or two bugs die.
In fact, DIY approaches like trying to kill bed bugs with disinfectant spray often make things worse. Disturbing bed bugs can cause them to spread into nearby rooms or deeper into hiding spots, making bed bug control more difficult. Bed bugs require an approach that targets areas where they hide and all stages of their life cycle, not just what you can see.
