How can you attract spiders out of hiding?

Ehrlich Answers

"I want to know how to lure a spider out from behind my dresser. Is it possible?"

Luring out spiders isn’t easy. While spider bait traps do exist, the spiders might simply choose to ignore them. So, how do you attract spiders on purpose? You usually don’t. A better plan is to remove hiding spots, use simple traps, and block the paths they use.

Try this step-by-step approach to get rid of spiders.

  1. Clear clutter near baseboards, under furniture, and in closets to remove hiding spots.
  2. Place sticky traps along walls and in corners, where spiders travel at night; these help you find and catch hidden spiders.
  3. If a trap stays empty after two to three nights, move it to a new place.
  4. For a single spider you want to move, use a glass-and-card capture, then release outside.
  5. Reduce prey insects: store food on sealed containers, clean crumbs, and deal with other pests that spiders feed on.
  6. Seal gaps around doors and windows, repair screens, and keep rooms dry with ventilation or a dehumidifier.

DIY measures can help for a short time, but they may not address the source of an infestation. If you’re seeing recurring webs or shed skins, we can inspect, identify species, and build a targeted spider control plan to help protect your home.
