Luckily, there are a variety of bed bug treatment options, but there are definitely things you want to avoid doing when it comes to a bed bug problem.

Bed Bug Infestation Don’ts

Don’t Panic

This is easier said than done, but try your best to remain calm when it comes to bed bug infestations. You’d be surprised how many bed bug treatment options are available and how many families have dealt with this issue in the past. Trust us, there are solutions to your bed bug problems!

Don’t move items from room to room

Some homeowners think by moving items into another room they’re protecting furniture and other items from bed bugs, but they can hide in a variety of places due to their small size.  Moving items from a bed bug infested room to other areas of your home increases the likelihood that the infestation will spread throughout other areas of your home.

Once you’re already facing a bed bug control issue, it’s best to keep the infested area as small as possible so they can be exterminated quicker.

Don’t use outdoor pesticides or DIY fumigation inside your home

Bed bugs are sneaky and adaptable creatures, which is why some homeowners may resort to drastic measures to remove them. Do not use outdoor pesticides in your home or try DIY fumigation techniques.

The improper use of pesticides may cause severe harm to people and pets and may do more damage than good. Also, not all pesticides work the same. So just because you buy a pesticide over the counter, it does not mean it will work for all pests.

Don’t throw away furniture

One of the many reasons people are scared of bed bug infestations is because they’re worried of the financial burden they could cause. If your mattress or couch has bed bugs, should you toss it? No! There are many treatment options available to help you get rid of bed bugs, so don’t throw away furniture just yet!
