What is wildlife control, and why is it important?

Wildlife control involves the capture and removal of nuisance pests on your property. A nuisance animal is any critter that is not considered a pest, such as bats, chipmunks, raccoons, squirrels, and more. Wildlife management is a niche skill within the pest control industry and should be left to the experts.

Please contact us immediately if you need any wildlife removed from your property. In addition to the possibility of getting scratched or bitten, there are also many health risks associated with wildlife and their droppings, which can result in various viruses and diseases.

What wildlife removal services does Ehrlich offer?

There are multiple methods used to control various wildlife critters, and when dealing with wildlife, no two methods are the same. Your technician will use either a trapping and release method, exclusion, or sometimes, both, depending on the type of wildlife you are trying to remove.

Trapping and release

We offer trapping services for all mammals except for bats. Depending on the type of wildlife, we will check the traps daily to ensure a humane capture. The trapping method will usually only be used if the wildlife pest is a nuisance. If this isn’t the case, we will use exclusion methods to control the critter.

Exclusion

Our exclusion methods seal cracks, gaps, holes, and crevices to block wildlife entry. We use Flexi Armour, a durable barrier that stops even the smallest intruders. This helps control wildlife and prevents infestations in your yard. In many cases, we combine exclusion with trapping for complete protection. Together, these methods keep nuisance animals from regaining access to your home.

One-way doors

Depending on the type of pest you are dealing with, we may combine our exclusion services with the use of one-way doors. One-way doors allow the animal, usually squirrels, to exit the structure it has infested, but not re-enter.

Common wildlife we remove

Wildlife includes any animal that is not considered a pest. Here at Ehrlich, our wildlife removal services cover the following animals:

Bats often enter attics or eaves in search of shelter. While they help control insect populations, their droppings (guano) can pose health risks. If you notice squeaking sounds or strong ammonia-like odors, it may be time to call us.

Chipmunks may burrow near foundations or nest in crawl spaces. Their digging can disturb landscaping, and they can cause minor structural damage over time if left unchecked.

Gophers are known for leaving behind crescent-shaped mounds and damaging lawns, gardens, and underground wiring. Signs of activity include fresh dirt piles and dying plants.

Moles create raised tunnels and volcano-shaped mounds across lawns. They don't eat plants, but their tunneling can disrupt roots and cause visible turf damage.

Raccoons are strong and clever. They may tear through vents or shingles to reach attics. Look out for loud thumping at night and damaged insulation or ducts.

Skunks often dig under decks or sheds. You might spot shallow holes in your yard or smell their distinctive odor near hiding places. They can also carry rabies.

Squirrels often chew through wood or vents to get into attics. Once in, they gnaw on wires and insulation. Scampering noises during the day are a common sign.

Voles make surface tunnels and gnaw at tree bark and plant roots. Their presence can lead to serious garden damage, especially in winter and early spring.

Contact the wildlife identification experts

We focus on providing effective pest control services for our customers while being mindful of the different non-target species in urban and rural wildlife. Many of these species play a crucial role in our ecosystem, and some are legally protected in the U.S. Our experts adhere to all state laws and regulations regarding any protected species.

We do not recommend trying to control any wildlife pests on your property by yourself. Managing wildlife pests in your yard or home should be left to the experts. Our Ehrlich technicians are educated in proper wildlife removal. After a thorough inspection, your technician will know the type of animal you are dealing with, which is crucial in deciding on the method for control.
