  • Many different species. 5/16"–2" in length.
  • Narrow and cylindrical with many body segments.
  • Each body segment has two pairs of legs 17–100 pairs of legs.

Lifecycle

  • Eggs are deposited in clusters in the soil and immature stages pass through several moults over about 2 years.

Habits

  • Millipedes feed on plants and damp/decaying vegetable matter. They roll into a spiral when disturbed.
  • Usually found outdoors.
