Rentokil North American Technical Director Chris Arne, Ph.D. recently participated as a guest speaker at the National Pest Management Association’s (NPMA) Canine Conference – Solutions for Scent Detection Professionals.
Dr. Arne was asked to participate in a panel discussion on Successful Business Practices. He spoke to an audience of over 250 Pest Control Providers, Dog handlers and Dog trainers on how Rentokil successfully implemented canine detection into their service offerings. Canines have emerged as a vital and widely accepted tool to detect live bed bugs and are extremely reliable. Rentokil currently has canine detection teams working in the New York, Canada, Florida and Boston markets.
“I was really impressed by the canine experts that spoke at this symposium. Using dogs to detect bedbugs is in its infancy and there are a lot of things we can learn from drug enforcement and police canine work that will help us in developing the best management practices for our industry” says Arne.
The three day conference was hosted by the NPMA to provide guidance to pest management professionals who own or are interested in using Bed Bug sniffing canines and reviewed the legal, business and customer-oriented perspective side of the business.
