Shamokin Technician Receives The Julius C. Ehrlich Award

30 September, 2010

Reading, Pennsylvania – September 28, 2010 -- Senior Technician Scott Reed of Ehrlich’s Shamokin, PA, office received the Julius C. Ehrlich award for Excellence in Customer Relations for 2009.

Ehrlich founder Julius Ehrlich was a man who wasn’t satisfied with the way things were. He was an adventurous spirit, always looking for new ways to do things. His primary concern was satisfying the customer – to such an extent that his first customer in 1928 remains a customer to this day. Not only did Mr. Ehrlich strive to do things “right”, but he also wanted to do the “right” things. The same can be said for Scott Reed, this year’s Julius C. Ehrlich Award winner.

As a senior Technician with Ehrlich since 1992, Scott Reed services one of Ehrlich’s largest customers, Weis Markets – a large regional grocery store chain with an ice cream plant, milk plant, meat plant, warehouses and corporate offices. These sensitive locations have a “zero-pest” tolerance policy. Accurate pest prevention service and record-keeping is imperative to ensure the highest standards are maintained. Reed has a reputation of being a highly knowledgeable expert whose customers look forward to his visits, thanks to his friendly nature and trademark humor.

Scott Reed was also instrumental in resolving a fly problem for a well-known convenience store chain. Technically, this was a very challenging problem, and he coordinated a team of Ehrlich experts to be sure he could offer every solution. Together with the customer, they worked to find the real root of the problem -- without any interruption of the customer’s business. Reed went well beyond standard customer service practices to ensure the program’s success. Persevering for several weeks, Reed monitored the situation on a daily basis, gaining customer confidence and loyalty.

Reed’s attributes are not limited to pest control service. When the Shamokin office became more involved in providing Vegetation Management Service (VMS), he led the initiative. His positive, instructional nature led the Shamokin office to better satisfy customers and greatly expand their VMS service offering.

Reed’s secret? “He always strives to do better than the day before, to learn something new and to work hard,” says Reed’s District Manager Henry Linton.
