Rentokil is part of National Pest Management Association delegation providing professional services

May 6, Reading, PA — Rentokil North American Pest Control is one of 10 companies chosen nationally to join the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) to provide professional pest management services in Haiti. Port-au-Prince and surrounding areas are overrun with pests such as flies, rodents and cockroaches in the aftermath of the January earthquake. Presto-X’s Ward Combs is travelling to Haiti in early May with other NPMA delegates to assess current pest issues and potential infestation risk factors.

“We are proud to be a part of this delegation and honored that our expertise in pest management will be valuable in bringing much needed relief to the people of Haiti,” said John Myers, Rentokil North American CEO. “They are facing a long and hard recovery, and it is important that we provide continued support that will see them through.”

“This mission is critical for determining the depth of services and support needed on the ground in Haiti and our members are ready to take action,” said Missy Henriksen, vice president of public affairs for NPMA. “The outpouring of pledges to help — whether it be in volunteering staff to travel to Haiti, donating materials or financial support — has been tremendous and we are eager to provide relief and eliminate potential health risks.”

Some of the health risks posed by pests include the transmission of pathogens and bacteria such as E-Coli and Salmonella that can result in illness and disease, increased potential for asthma attacks and respiratory distress due to cockroach and rodent allergens and food contamination.

About NPMA -- The NPMA, a non-profit organization with more than 7,000 members, was established in 1933 to support the pest management industry’s commitment to the protection of public health, food and property.
